Who the hell is Number 18?
Well, dear visitor, there is a whole section about her. It's called "About" and the links are to your left. But if you really don't know anything at all about the person this shrine is about, well let me tell you. Number 18 is the blond-haired, female cyborg from Dragonball Z. She has a twin brother, the black-haired male, Number 17. They were created by Dr. Gero, a scientist in the Red Ribbon Army, which Son Goku defeated (yep, the whole army) by himself as a child. Dr. Gero swore revenge and made a whole line of artificial humans (20 of them, plus Cell) for the sole purpose of defeating Goku. Number 18 is the eighteenth artificial human to be created. And she totally rules.
Ohhhhh yeaaah. Isn't she the android or something?
Hmmm, well she is an artificial human. She's not an android, though. She's a cyborg. And there is a difference between an android and a cyborg. There's a section about that too which explains the difference - also to your left.
Why did you make this site? There's already like a billion shrines to #18 out already...
Well, I've been a fan of #18 for a good couple a'years, and I was never too inclined to make a shrine for her since there were so many good ones already. But my obsession with her has been growing nonstop, and with the addition of the "Android Saga" to the English version of Dragonball Z, I've made it my mission to let everyone know that the English version is wrongfully calling #18 an android!!! Seeing shrines to her calling her an android make me cringe...so I guess that is ultimately the reason why I finally made a shrine to the wonderful cyborg.
Uhh, isn't that a little lame to freak out over that? It's just a name
No, it's not. If people were calling your favorite character of all time something they weren't, I'm sure you'd get a little bent out of shape too. And besides, I thought I already established that I was obsessed.
Ew, why are you obsessed with Number 18? She's so ugly and DBZ sucks.
There's a lot of reasons why. Again, I made a section for it, so you should look for it. And as for DBZ "sucking," let's not get started on that. I don't know about you, but I think the show (and manga) is as popular as it is for a reason. And sure, some of the DBZ episodes look pretty low-budget, but what long-running series doesn't have (more than) a few crappily animated episodes (Sailor Moon anyone)? And anyhow, if you think she's so ugly, how come you're at my page?
Ok, so you're like obsessed. Do you think you're her or something?
No, I don't. I do cosplay her. I do use "number18" or "18gou" as my handle for everything online. I do have posters with her image covering my walls. The actual number "eighteen" makes me think of her. And I've role-played Number 18 with a group of friends for as long a time as I've known about her, so I've got more personal connections to the character than others may have. However, I don't actually think I'm her. I would love to be bionic, though. That would be totally sweet or awesome. There is a real person that is an actual cyborg now, too, so I'm very excited about that (there's a link to an article on the guy in the links section). Again, though, I'm not that obsessed. ^_^
Thank god. What else are you into besides Number 18 and Dragonball Z?
Oh, lotsa things. I am a typical otaku, and that's mainly what my life revolves around lately. But besides all things anime and manga, I dig regular comics books and video games. I am a bit of a technophile. I am a city gal at heart, though right now I live in a sucky suburb of MA. I write. I like to dance. I like slams and spoken word, but I think the Def Poetry Jam thing is kinda wack. Even though I graduated high school a couple years ago, I'm not in college right now...but I will be in the next year or so. Hopefully for design of some kind. I'm a gemini. I like chinese food. I'm short. I have short hair. I used to be a crusty punk rocker type. I am practically married. And umm...cranberry soda is mad good.
So you're not a super nerd after all.
Hmmm...you may be right when you compare me to some of the nerds out there, but I'm still considered really weird and eccentric for some reason by most people. But aren't we all a little eccentric in our own way? :)
Uhhh, I guess so. Speaking of weird, how come when I look at your source code, it's all crazy...
Oh, that. Well, I like good design and stuff. I like to feel a little leet sometimes...so I made the shrine using all CSS positioning and no tables. If you want to know how I did it, feel free to look at my stylesheet, maybe run a Google search for CSS and XHTML or possibly check out A List Apart. If you have your own website, you should really check it out and put an end to messy code!
Hey, that's kinda cool. You're not so bad after all.
Well I'm glad we both have something to agree on. ^_^
